About the Journal

The Jagiellonian University Young Musicologists Quarterly is an academic journal founded in 2008 at the Institute of Musicology of the Jagiellonian University. The journal is a forum for presenting the research of young scholars (PhD scholars, PhD candidates, alumni and students) who are interested in the field of musicology. The possibility of publishing English-language articles and cooperation with reviewers from numerous countries contribute to the international character of our journal, thus enabling the exchange of thoughts and experiences between Polish and foreign research centers. So far, the Quarterly has published articles of young researchers both from Poland and, inter alia, from Austria, Belgium, France and Italy.

KMM UJ is a journal containing materials from various subdisciplines of musicology such as  music history, music theory, ethnomusicology, as well as aesthetic issues and music reception. The texts are published after they have been subjected to the process of the  Double-blind review, which allows the selection of materials in terms of their content. Currently, over a hundred experts from leading universities and music academies, both Polish and foreign, cooperate with the editorial team (a detailed list is available in the External Reviewers tab).

The quarterly, founded on the initiative of students, headed by Agnieszka Kołtun, is published by the Musicology Students Association at the Jagiellonnian University. The journal has been registered in the National Library of Poland under the numbers ISSN 2956-4107 (printed version) and ISSN 2353-7094 (online version). Until 2013 the journal was registered under the number ISSN 2080-3249 as Kwartalnik Studentów Muzykologów UJ—The Jagiellonian University Musicology Students Quarterly.

The journal is indexed in the following databases: Arianta, BazHum, Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL), The Central European Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (CEJSH), EBSCO Publishing, Google Scholar, ICI Journals Master List, PBN / POL-index, and RILM Abstracts of Music Literature.
